We’re sad to announce that former Springbok captain Joost van der Westhuizen has died.
South African rugby legend and scrumhalf Joost van der Westhuizen lost his battle with motor neurone disease (MND) at the age of 45.
The former World Cup winner had been living with the disease since 2011, and was admitted to a Joburg hospital on Saturday morning. On Monday morning, the J9 Foundation confirmed his death.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
