The past few days have been huge for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple made their first public appearance together at the Invictus Games in Toronto, where they held hands, cuddled, and even snuck a few kisses. Swoon!
Their level of PDA was minimal, but it’s still buzz-worthy—especially in the context of the royal family. We hardly ever see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge holding hands, and even though there’s no official royal protocol for PDA, an etiquette expert told Glamour Prince Harry and Markle’s kissing is a sign their relationship “is as serious as it [can] be without being engaged” and that “all signals point toward an engagement announcement soon.”
So, is she right? Maybe, if this new story from E! News is any indication. A source reportedly told the outlet that Prince Harry’s trip to Toronto, where Markle films Suits, went extremely well, and that a “new chapter” in their relationship is about to begin.
“While Meghan may not be wearing a ring, nor [has] a formal engagement [been] announced, it’s fair to say they’re as good as engaged now,” the source said. “They’ve spoken about their marriage plans openly with each other, and friends and family around them are pretty much thinking about wedding attire already!”
E! also reports that Prince Harry is apparently very close now with Markle’s mom, Doria, as well as her inner circle. “Doria sees Harry as one of the family, and he sees her like family too,” the source said. “Harry has become close with all of Meghan’s closest friends: Markus [Anderson], the Mulroneys. These are people who have welcomed him with warm and open arms, and he’s really felt the love and protection.”
It’s important not to jump to conclusions just yet. Engagement rumors have been swirling around these two for months. We all keep taking the smallest details as signs wedding bells are around the corner—like how Markle reportedly ended her Audi car lease, or when Prince William laughed off the idea last week. So, yes, Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship is probably very serious, but they’re the only ones who can 100 percent confirm an engagement.
Of course, that won’t stop us from reading about—and obsessing over—these theories until then.
