We caught up with the talented actress/TV presenter and got all the exclusive information:
How did you get involved in the show?
I literally got a call! Funny enough, I was going about my day preparing to present at the GPA 2016 awards that evening. I was listening to a radio interview with Aisha Mohamed (SABC 3 channel head) chatting about the new SABC laws in driving local content. I was already thinking of going back to presenting and seeking producing opportunities after my year break from broadcasting. I shortly received a call with the offer to be one of the presenters. It clearly was all in God’s timing.
Why is this show important to you as an actress and TV presenter?
Firstly, it’s a platform for me to reach people in a positive way. I am a very opinionated and intellectually curious person. The business scientist in me comes out when given a platform to share my views, learn more about people, industries, places and engage in different trending topics. Being a part of an exciting weekend breakfast show like this, will not only help me learn more, travel more, meet people and engage, but it will also assist me in staying true to my motto of using my platform and strengths to make some sort of a difference.
How are you, as an actress, able to switch between being behind the cameras on a movie set to filming a TV show?
The two arts are very different and should never be compared. On top of it all, I run my own media company, nambithaBM Media, which has fed my aspirations of being a producer. Acting is therapy for me. I transform into someone else. I learn empathy. I learn to become someone else and I carry that person’s dreams, fears, insecurities, doubts, goals. I carry all of it with me as I transform into character. With hosting and presenting, I get to release, breathe and be myself. They both provide me with a sense of freedom, but with presenting, I am free to be me. I am free to laugh, engage, be passionate, have an opinion and feed my love for people and learning.
“Expect your weekend mornings to be entertaining! This show will definitely be in the morning Twitter trending list!” Nambitha ends off.
