Here’s why the White Ribbon Campaign is SO important

Violence Against Women  is a universal cause, occurring in all regions, countries, societies and cultures, and affecting women irrespective of income, class, race or ethnicity. However, it does not receive the attention and response it deserves, so we’re shedding some light on the cause.

Did you know:

1 IN 3 WOMEN around the world are beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in their lifetime

In the UK 1 in 5 women take medical leave each year for domestic violence reasons.

In the US 1 in 5 COLLEGE women are sexually assaulted during their university studies.

Over 20,000 girls under the age of 15 are at risk of female genital mutilation in the UK.

As a global leader in the luxury fashion industry, the Kering Group believes it has a responsibility to create a better world for women, a world of social equality to help them achieve their professional and personal goals.

What is the White Ribbon for Women Campaign and how is the Kering Foundation involved?

As part of its global combat against Violence Against Women (VAW), the Kering Corporate Foundation has been holding annual White Ribbon for Women campaigns since 2012. The White Ribbon for Women campaign aims at raising awareness of Violence Against Women on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November.

To increase the campaign’s visibility, Stella McCartney, Board director of the Kering Foundation has designed a brooch representing the iconic White Ribbon, symbol of the combat.

Here’s why Stella supports this worthy cause (and why you should, too):
