Creativity courses through the blood of photographer and visual artist Hannelie Coetzee – an inheritance that has been part of her life from the very start. We sat down to chat with her about art and inspiration:
GLAMOUR: What inspires/drives you to succeed?
Hannelie: Cradle to cradle design.
GLAMOUR: What makes you feel like a strong, GLAMOURous woman in your day-to-day life?
Hannelie: Climbing off the scaffold after I’ve made a large public artwork to go view it from across the street.
GLAMOUR: Who is your woman of the year? Why?
Hannelie: My wife. She is epic.
GLAMOUR: What’s the best career advice that you’ve ever received?
Hannelie: Roger Ballen once said in a seminar I attended that you have to stick to what you think makes sense. The more you stay authentic to yourself the better your contribution will be to society.
GLAMOUR: What was the defining moment in your career?
Hannelie: When I took the music out of my ears and started listening to passers-by, as I make artworks in public spaces. Listening and studying is the best inspiration to make sense of things.
