Meet South Africa’s professional rugby player, Steven Kitshoff, who was born on 10 February 1992.
Steven is a loosehead prop and has played for South Africa’s national rugby team which was crowned the 2019 rugby world cup champions in Japan.
He represented South Africa's national team and the Stormers in Super Rugby, having previously played for Bordeaux in the French Top 14 and Western Province in the Currie Cup.
Steven is married to Aimee (Steenkamp) Kitshoff who he often describes as his best friend. The couple got married in December 2018 at a glamourous event held in Paarl, Western Cape.
They got married, travelled the world together, and won the Rugby World Cup, all in the space of 12 months. Is there anything this #PowerCouple can’t do?
GLAMOUR caught up with Professional Rugby Player, and his wife, Aimee Kitshoff and found out the secret to their marriage.
GLAMOUR: What makes your relationship unique?
SK:
We are first and foremost best friends. We love having fun together and never sweat the small stuff too much.
GLAMOUR: In your opinion, what is the most important foundation of any relationship?
SK:
Communication is definitely an important part of any relationship. All relationships have ups and downs, but a healthy communication style can make it easier to deal with conflict and build a stronger and healthier partnership.
GLAMOUR: You're coming up to your one-year wedding anniversary, how will you be celebrating?
SK:
We’ve had such a crazy year that all we want to do now is relax, so since both of us love fine dining, good food and wine, that is what it will be.
GLAMOUR: Steven, what do you love most about Aimee?
SK:
What I love most about Aimee is that she always has my back and is the most supportive person I know. We really love spending time together whether if it's in the gym or in the pub. Aimee is my best friend.
GLAMOUR: Couples who train together, stay together. Aimee, what makes Steven the best workout partner?
AK:
Of course, Steven is always helping me more with training and always advising on what exercises I should do and showing me how to do them, but he also joins me for boxing. He is the most positive and happy person you will ever meet so having that energy around me when I am training is always good and makes it more fun.
GLAMOUR: You both live very active lifestyles, why is that important to the both of you?
SK:
We are firm believers that exercise makes you a happier person and boosts one’s energy, which immediately allows you to enjoy a more adventurous life.
GLAMOUR: You've travelled the world together, where to next?
AK:
Our travel bucket list is very long and after a lot of traveling this year we are very happy to be home. For now, there are no travel plans just a very busy year ahead. We are definitely more “Island people” but we are hoping to go explore a few winter destinations like Austria and Switzerland towards the end of next year.
GLAMOUR: What's the biggest challenge you've faced as a couple?
AK:
I think the biggest challenge we’ve faced is the long amounts of time we have had to spend apart. With Steven always on the road it sometimes gets a bit difficult to communicate when dealing time differences and busy schedules.
GLAMOUR: Beyond life in front of the camera, what do you as a couple like to do on a weekend?
SK:
It depends what we are in the mood for… Sometimes we will go away for a little wake-boarding and water-sports weekend, other times we might just relax in the city and go to a market and enjoy some time out with friends.
GLAMOUR: Aimee, what are you most proud of when it comes to Steven and his accomplishments?
AK:
Since the day I met Steven I knew playing in a rugby world cup was his biggest dream. This year he didn't only play in it but also won it, but I am proud of all the hard work and effort he always puts in and how humble he stays when he achieves all his goals.
GLAMOUR: How do you want to be remembered as a couple in years to come?
SK:
Just as the fun, kind and loving people we are.
