With a blossoming new business under her belt, and a successful clothing collaboration selling out in stores throughout South Africa, it’s clear that Boity Thulo is winning at life. Her wellness product, which debuted late last year, Boity Tonning Support, has received rave reviews from her loyal following. While, her capsule collection for Sissy Boy has been flying off the shelves. After taking a break to focus on her business career, the star plans to make a return to television this year; and we’re totally here for it!
We sat down with the buxom beauty to talk dating, relationships, and style.
What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on?
Firstly, the guy kept on talking about himself, and wouldn’t even let me speak. He was only interested in hearing his own voice; so that was really irritating. Also, he would continuously say my full name in our conversation, which was very creepy. I think he was making up stories about himself, and he was trying to paint himself as this guy who has all this stuff. It was the worst experience; it was terrible because I liked him, but I had no idea that this was how he really was.
What’s the one lesson you’ve learnt from your previous relationships?
I’ve learnt to truly communicate how I’m really feeling. Instead of either suppressing it or hoping that my partner will figure it out. I’ve learnt not to be afraid to ask for what I want; then I know whether my partner is willing to meet my needs. I’ve also learnt to not have any expectations. Not having expectations makes life so much easier because you are able to enjoy the process more.
As far as we know you’re single. So, what are you looking for in a man?
I’m looking for someone who truly makes me feel like I am the greatest thing that’s ever happened to them. I want someone who makes me feel like they’re grateful to have me. And, someone that compliments me mentally and emotionally – someone I can have solid conversations with about the types of books I read and my spirituality. I need to have a very grounded relationship that’s based on our mental and spiritual connection more than our physical connection. And also someone to have fun with.
What would be your idea of a fun night out with your girls?
We would start out at the spa in the morning, and then afterward we’ll have champagne and lunch, or an early dinner. We’d have a great chat and eventually, we’ll end the night off at a karaoke bar, or go to our favourite club.
You’re always on the red carpet. Can you give GLAMOUR readers tips on what to do before attending a big event or party?
If you know you have a big event coming up, go for a facial and make sure that your skin looks incredible. Don’t eat too much the day before and on the day, so that you’re not bloated in front of the cameras. Be hydrated, and don’t do anything that will make you look tired. Also, practice your poses in the mirror so that you know which angles work for you, and what’s flattering. And, prepare your outfit, at least, two weeks in advance.
Who is your style inspiration?
Rihanna. She has a very fluid sense of style; she makes anything look incredible. I love Kim Kardashian’s style; she knocks it out of the park a lot of the time. Her style is very clean and chic. I’m a curvy girl and I love the fact that she dresses for her curves, and loves her curves. And I love my curves too!
