Whether you’re part of the music industry or not, you know that the SAMAs are a big deal – a glittering awards ceremony held specifically to honour our local musical talent. This year the 23rd annual SAMAs took place at Sun City on Saturday 27 May, and, despite some contention over prizes, the evening proved to be a spectacularly GLAMOURous one.

GoodLuck’s thank you message for their ‘Best Pop Album’ win
Well done to all the winners! While Nasty C took home the coveted Record of the Year with ‘Hell Naw’ it was Kwesta who dominated the evening overall. Babes Wodumo and Mapintsha , however, weren’t as lucky. They took to social media to vent their anger at not winning any prizes, with Babes accusing the SAMA committee of corruption by saying, “These awards are sold. Continue buying the awards. But it’s fine, we won’t starve. I will always be Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha will remain Mampintsha.” Sounds a like someone has a case of bad loseritis!
