After French manicures made a comeback, it was only a matter of time before white tips started showing up on celebrity toes.
If the music thing doesn't work out for Lizzo — ha, yeah, right — we're starting to think she could have a serious career as a nail influencer. The singer-songwriter is constantly sporting stunning manicures and helping to kick off trends like milky nails and chocolate-bar-inspired tips. But if 2019 was the year that the French manicure came back full-throttle, 2021 is the year that the French pedicure is making its long-overdue comeback, thanks to none other than Lizzo.
On Monday, May 3, Lizzo posted a carousel of photos from a tropical setting to her Instagram grid. "Rihanna inspired this look today y'all," she wrote. That look includes a colorful button-down shirt, metallic pink bikini, oversize sunglasses, a pink snapback hat, layered necklaces, super-duper long braids, and skin that's glowing like nobody's business.
But the part of the look that really jumped out at us came in the very last slide: a shot of Lizzo's feet in white mesh Gucci sandals. There, giving us '90s-throwback perfection was a perfect French pedicure. The pinkish base on each toenail was topped off with a not-too-thick, not-too-thin line of bright, opaque-white polish, making us wonder why the look ever went out of style in the first place.
In a photo posted to her Instagram Stories, we can see that Lizzo's manicure is not of the French persuasion. Her long nails feature a coppery marble effect on a sheer base — because who says your fingernails and toenails have to match?
If you're loving the French pedicure look but you don't trust yourself to try your hand at it or don't yet feel like visiting a nail salon, worry not. Kiss makes the cutest French-tip press-ons for toenails. They're easy to use and last a surprisingly long time. And I think we'll be able to say the same thing about the French pedicure trend.
