If you’re a naturalista, scroll through and give one of these runway styles a go.
In the past, designers were adamant that naturally curly and course-haired models’ hair should be worn sleek and straight, in order to “fit in”.
But look back a few years at the Spring/Summer 2018 shows and you will see that designers changed their mindset and embraced every natural hair curl pattern and texture.
From Acne to Chanel, models sashayed across the runway in loose and bouncy 3B to 3C hairstyles as well as curly and coiled 4A to 4C looks. So if you’re a naturalista, scroll through, and give one of these styles a go.
3C or 4A? Try this…
This hairstyle is perfect if you want to wake up, shower, and head to the office without fussing over your hair. For defined curls, style hair while in the shower, using a curl-activating conditioner, hair oil, and and a small amount of alcohol-free gel.
4A, 4B, or 4C? Try this…
Chic cornrows are easy to achieve. Just make sure that your hair is well moisturized, then start plaiting from your roots all the way down to the nape of your neck. If you have medium to long hair, tie loose ends into a bun like they did at the Chanel show.
3B, 3C or 4A? Try this…
To achieve this look, apply a leave-in conditioner and detangle your curls with a wide tooth comb. Then use a snag-free hair elastic to tie up a section of your hair. Leave the rest of your hair down for an effortless ‘do.
3B to 4C? Try this…
Dreadlocks work well on all natural hair textures, so don’t be afraid to adopt this daring hairstyle. Don’t have long hair? Don’t fret. Simply ask your stylist to create faux locs.
4C? Try this…
If you’re transitioning from relaxed tresses to natural locks, then you might want to consider sporting the mini afro. Simply ask your stylist to cut off all your relaxed ends and shape your coiffure into a tiny ‘fro.
