The MTV Video Music Awards red carpet is always a spectacle to behold. This time around, MTV VMAs 2022 attendees didn’t disappoint, embracing bolder, more daring style down to every last beauty detail.
There was Lizzo, who heightened the drama of her voluminous navy Jean Paul Gaultier gown with a petrol blue pout punctuated by a trompe l’oeil lip ring. In the same spirit, Anitta, the first Brazilian artist nominated in the best Latin category, served up a futuristic wet-look bob above her conceptual “heart of Brasil” crimson gown. Then there was Dove Cameron, who topped off her goth fashion look with inky pigtail plaits, razor-sharp flicks of white eyeliner, and glossy black talons embellished with roses.
While shock value is often the name of the game at the VMAs, there were still those stars who masterfully leaned into their signatures. True to form, the members of Italian rock band Måneskin wore coordinating swoops of jet-black eyeliner, while Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé of Blackpink were in perfect harmony with their array of sleek hair looks accented by sets of cool, face-framing wisps. And looking ever ethereal, “Superache”“ singer Conan Gray wore brushed-up brows with a cloud of Pre-Raphaelite curls.
