Great skin is within your reach! Experts at Olay reveal the skin tricks you need to know now.
Myth I don’t have to change my products when the season changes
Fact Cold weather can have an immediate effect on your skin. Outside, areas that aren’t covered up start to sting, feel dry and tight. If you stay in the cold for too long, it can lead to broken vessels that can create redness and bruising on the face. Use products with SPF15 or higher to help protect skin from UV damage during cold and sunny days. A deep moisturising night cream will also help keep skin hydrated and flexible. Look for the one that contains glycerine (to draw moisture into skin)n and petrolatum (to prevent moisture loss) for optimal hydration. Try Olay Regenerist Night Cream(R219.99).
Myth There is no right or wrong way to apply face cream
Fact There is a way that means you’ll get the most out of your skincare. Start with clean hands. Take a pea-sized amount of cream, rub between your fingertips and move from the centre of your face moving in upward strokes (downward strokes can lead to sagging). Never rub. Don’t forget your neck but do avoid the eye area. Then, using a rice-grain-sized amount of eye cream, pat it gently around the eye on the orbital bone.
Myth I don’t need eight hours of sleep to look good
Fact While we sleep, our skin and bodies are in repair mode. Insufficient sleep will show on your skin as you may see more fine lines and sagging. Your skin is also more vulnerable to moisture loss and may be slower to heal from sunburn. Use an exfoliator to stimulate cell renewal and add radiance. Follow that with a moisturiser like the Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Moisturiser(R269) containing Niacinimide which also works to brighten your skin. Then, at night: always remove your makeup well and moisturise at least 20 minutes before bed so that the cream can absorb, and not rub off on your pillow.
