Cantara started her makeup artistry journey back in 2016 when the YouTube makeup era was taking off and we were all obsessed with Kim Kardashian’s contour and the intense cut creases. Her passion for makeup was ignited, inspiring her to start creating content online. Sharing her passion for makeup with others, she formed a community of shared interests with other beauty enthusisats.

Cantara Farouk: I started my journey in 2016 when the YouTube makeup era was taking off. I was inspired to start creating content online because I wanted to share my passion for makeup and beauty with others, and I saw it as a way to connect with a wider audience.
GLAMOUR: What are some of the misconceptions that people have about what you do?
Cantara Farouk: One misconception is that being a makeup artist and beauty influencer is easy and glamorous all the time. In reality, it requires a lot of hard work, dedication and creativity.
GLAMOUR: What is the best part about producing content online?
Cantara Farouk: The best part about producing content online is the ability to inspire and empower others. When I receive messages from people saying that my tutorials or product recommendations have helped them feel more confident, it's incredibly rewarding.
GLAMOUR: What were some challenges you faced along the way, whilst being in the industry?
Cantara Farouk: Some challenges I faced include building a following from scratch, dealing with negative comments or criticism and staying relevant in a fast-paced industry.
GLAMOUR: How do you protect your mental health and peace when having a strong online presence?
Cantara Farouk: To protect my mental health and peace, I prioritize self-care, set boundaries with social media, and surround myself with a supportive community both online and offline.
GLAMOUR: What advice can you share with those who are embarking on building their brand and getting started in the online space?
Cantara Farouk: My advice for those starting out in the online space is to stay true to yourself, be consistent, and engage with your audience authentically. Building a brand takes time and effort, so be patient and don't be afraid to try new things.

Cantara Farouk: What sets me apart is my unique perspective and creative approach to makeup and beauty. I'm always pushing boundaries by experimenting with new techniques, styles, and products.
GLAMOUR: Which trends have you been inspired by this season and how have you incorporated them into your regime?
Cantara Farouk: This season, I've been inspired by bold, colorful eyeshadow looks and glowing skin. I've incorporated these trends into my regime by experimenting with vibrant eyeshadow palettes and incorporating hydrating skincare products for a radiant complexion.
GLAMOUR: A holy grail item and top tip for the winter season?
Cantara Farouk: My holy grail item for the winter season is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask to keep those juicy lips hydrated. My top tip is to layer moisturizing products to lock in moisture and to protect you against the harsh elements.
GLAMOUR: Your favourite beauty moment?
Cantara Farouk: My favorite beauty moment was when I collaborated with Mr Price on a campaign that aligned perfectly with my values and aesthetic. It was incredibly fulfilling to see my work showcased on a larger platform.
GLAMOUR: Your best beauty advice that you’ve received to date, and are willing to share with others and who was it from?
Cantara Farouk: The best beauty advice I've received is to embrace imperfections and celebrate what makes you unique. In the age of social media it is easy to get wrapped up in comparison but that is a thief of joy. Always celebrate your uniqueness! This advice came from my mum.
