The arrivals at the couture shows in Paris, which kicked off with Schiaparelli autumn/winter 2024, are almost as exciting as the collections. Case in point: Doja Cat, who covered herself in 30,000 crimson Swarovski crystals to sit front row last year.
Arriving at the Schiaparelli show this morning, Doja Cat gave us a preview of what was to come from the show make-up via a beauty look applied backstage by Dame Pat McGrath and her team, who were fresh from Vogue World: Paris. “This is Metamorphosis in extreme. The look for the rest of the models in the show was the alien aesthetic we have been playing with at Schiaparelli for a while now, but for Doja, it was an extreme version – we took her to the extreme!” said McGrath backstage.
McGrath created Doja Cat’s faded butterfly-blue, sculpted winged eye using her PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil and Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner in extreme black and a new eyeshadow palette that’s yet to be launched. The look was set with McGrath’s Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Blurring Under-Eye Powder. Doja Cat’s glossy, nude lips, meanwhile, were perfectly drawn on using Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil in Obsessed and finished with a slick of Lust Gloss in Heavy Petal.
Doja Cat’s beauty looks never disappoint at couture week – happily, her extreme version of the “luminous and otherworldly” beauty at Schiaparelli stole the show once again.
