Solid perfumes are quick and easy handmade gifts that won’t cost you the earth. You can customise the scent to suit whoever you’re giving it to.
What You Need
- Tins, lockets or other small containers
- 2 tbsp beeswax pellets
- 2 tbsp Jojoba or Almond oil
- 30-40 drops essential oils
- Wooden stirrer
- Microwave or double boiler
- 2 non-metal bowls
Instructions
- Measure out your carrier oil and add in 30-40 drops of your chosen essential oils. It’s important to create a scent blend you are happy with before you add it to the wax, as adjusting it later can be problematic.
- In a microwave safe dish, melt the beeswax in 1 minute intervals, stirring between each. (This should take around 4 minutes.) Be careful when removing the dish from the microwave, as it will be extremely hot.
- Pour the oil blend into the bowl of melted wax and mix well with your wooden stirrer.
- Place the bowl back in the microwave for 30 seconds for the wax and oil to combine. This is a good time to open up your containers and lay them on a surface ready for pouring.
- Carefully pour the melted wax and oil blend into your containers.
- Let the containers sit undisturbed for an hour or so until the perfume hardens. Once hard you can get to work decorating your containers.
