Victoria Monét is slated to have a big night at the 2024 Grammys, and the singer-songwriter came dressed to win. For the occasion, she wore a stunning custom bronze Versace gown reminiscent of the iconic golden gramophone award (two of which she's already won, for her album Jaguar II) and finished the look with equally bronzed makeup. The soft glam look has become Monét's signature, created by makeup artist Alexander Echeverri.
To get the look, Echeverri used MAC Cosmetics and was inspired by her Versace gown. “After attending the fitting and seeing it in person for the first time, I fell in love with the earthy tones of the dress,” he says. “The creative process was smooth and fun alongside Victoria’s approval of course. We went for a classic Victoria glam, which is always very bronzy and brown.”
Monét's lip was a special combination of chestnut lip liner and the MACximal lipstick in Kinda Sexy topped with Lipglass lip gloss in Clear. “I created the look using my favorite ultimate products from MAC Cosmetics. This combo will give you a classic '90s lip,” he says.
For the eyes, Echeverri used the Connect in Colour Palette in Unfiltered Nudes to create a neutral smokey eye and added coats of the MACStack Mascara. The secret to long-lasting makeup? “Using a powder puff to press in your loose or pressed powder onto the skin, then setting the face with a matte setting spray,” he says.
In addition to Monét's seven nominations, the singer's 2-year-old daughter Hazel is the youngest nominee ever for her feature on the the song “Hollywood,” which is nominated for best traditional R&B performance. In an interview with People, Monét expressed her hopes for Hazel to one day understand the gravity of her achievement.
“She understands she's done something really cool, but I don't think she understands the magnitude,” Monét said. “So as she gets older, I'll be excited to explain this to her and show her, hopefully, a Grammy with her name on it.”
