A clean makeup sponge makes for a clean face.
We’re all guilty of using dirty sponges sometimes (like that one you keep at the bottom of your handbag for emergencies). Keeping your tools clean will not only lengthen its lifespan, but it’ll also ensure that your skin stays fresh – nobody wants a dirty face!
Here are 6 simple steps for cleaning your makeup brushes.
1. Dampen the sponge; don’t soak it, but it needs to be a bit damp to absorb the cleanser.
2. Pat a mild face cleanser or shampoo onto the grubbiest areas of the sponge.
3. Massage the cleanser into the problem areas, pressing and kneading it well. Work the entire sponge well with your fingertips and the palm of your hand.
4. Add a bit of water and start to rinse. Squeeze the sponge continuously, paying special attention to stains.
5. Keep rinsing and squeezing the sponge until the water runs clear and there is no cleanser left.
6. Roll and dab the sponge on a clean towel to remove excess water, then lie it on the sponge to dry.
