Spring had sprung and while we’re all happy for warmer weather, those of us with allergies, also know that hay fever season is here.
While we can’t get rid of pollen, we can give you these tips for hiding your ‘allergy face’.
1 Start the day right
Puffiness is the enemy when you’re fighting allergies. The best way to combat facial puffiness is to drink enough water. Make sure you drink at least 8 glasses a day. Adding cucumber or lemon will add to its detoxing properties.
2 Reduce bloating
You can further help reduce puffiness by giving yourself a gentle facial lymphatic drainage massage. The easiest way to do this is with Bellabaci Facial Cups, R350, which come with their own massage technique instructions. Check out their website for more info.
3 Hide red eyes
Red eyes are the biggest giveaway when you’re suffering with allergies. Relieve the itchiness and reduce redness with Similasan Allergy Eye Drops, R99.95.
4 Banish Rudolf nose
Camouflage an angry, red nose with a green concealer. This works because green cancels red on the colour wheel. Apply the green concealer, blend well and then cover with your regular concealer. Try the Hean HD Skin Mix Camouflage Concealer, R135. If your nose if very sore, protect the skin with a layer of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, R210.
5 Use clean brushes
This may seem like an obvious one, but make sure you clean your makeup brushes often in allergy season. If you don’t you could cross-contaminate all your makeup and make your allergies worse. While we’re on the makeup topic – also make sure that none of your makeup is out of date.
