As the new MAC Viva Glam ambassadress, Ariana Grande talks exclusively to GLAMOUR about her beauty, fashion and self-confidence.
What was your first encounter with makeup?
When I was eight years old I was playing Annie in a play and my mom took me to the M·A·C counter to start my makeup kit. We bought grey eye shadow to use as ash on my face!
How do you take care of your skin?
I always scrub my face before bed.
Who are your beauty icons?
Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Madonna.
What would you tell your 16-year old self?
Slow down, life is short.
How do you balance your personal life with your career?
I am blessed and I love to work!
Favourite item in your closet?
My YSL heels, hoodies and crop tops!
What makes you feel most empowered?
My family. I look up to the women in my life. My mom especially. She taught me that I can do anything, and my Nonna keeps me grounded. I see myself as a 22-year-old girl from Boca and I will never take a moment for granted.
Why is the M·A·C AIDS Fund important to you?
Not enough people are talking about it. M·A·C helps people recognize their differences and that it is okay to speak out about these kinds of things. M·A·C and I have the same values, we both want equality in this world. It’s guilt free shopping; buy a lipstick, save a life.
Get Ariana’s Matte Plum Lipstick or Shimmering Pink Lipglass. Every cent of the proceeds go towards women, men and children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
