We all know that sweat, wind, dirt, air pollution, excess oil, stress and a myriad of other factors can cause impurities that leave your skin looking dull and uneven. So how do you ditch the dirt and unlock amazing, glowing skin? With these five super-easy tips!
1 Cleanse – but do it right!
We’ve been warned that not cleansing can lead to breakouts, but did you know that over-cleansing can have the same effect? The best and most efficient way to cleanse is to wet your face with lukewarm water then apply your face wash using your fingertips. Rinse then pat dry with a soft towel.
2 Your new bestie = sunscreen
No matter the weather, it’s important to apply a good sunscreen of SPF30 or higher. Not only does it protect your fragile skin from the harsh rays of the sun – and helps reduce the appearance of facial red veins and blotchiness – but it also slows down the development of wrinkles and sagging skin.
3 Drink more water
One of the most fundamental rules for healthy skin is to consume more water. But drinking eight tall glasses a day is less fun than that brightly coloured cocktail or refreshing sip of Coke right? Wrong! Slice a few pieces of fruit and add some flavour for a drink that will leave you less prone to blemishes and dry, flaky skin.
4 Hands off please!
Avoid touching your face to eliminate the spread of germs from your hands. If you often touch your face unconsciously, wash your hands with an antibacterial soap at regular intervals to lessen the risk of impurities being transferred on to your skin.
5 Keep a clean house
Bacteria is not just spread with your hands. Your sheets, makeup brushes and cellphone are all breeding grounds too, collecting dead skin cells, bacteria and oil that can cause breakouts. Clean your makeup brushes once a week and wipe your phone down at least once a day.
