In celebration of women’s month, five friends of GLAMOUR share the amazing women who have inspired them in their careers and personal lives.
Julia Stuart, SuperSport presenter
Naturally, my superwoman is my mom. But I also have to consider any woman that supports other females in their respective industries. If you are willing to help and advise others on their personal journeys, then you are a superwoman.
Kirsten Goss, jewellery designer
Forrest Gump because the character embodies everything a woman should be – tenacious, adventurous and keen on chocolate! Life is like a box of chocolates after all!
Anji Woodley, actress
This is a tough one, do I choose a woman who is thriving as an artist and doing amazing things, or do I choose the powerful women who are in my life? If I could I would have quite the list. But I think this time I’m going to choose a fellow actress, Emma Watson. Not only is she incredibly talented with a thriving career, but also constantly involved in humanitarian activities being a UN Goodwill Ambassador and an activist with so many other things she is involved with. She inspires me in every way!
Refilwe Modiselle, model and actress
I have two. My mother, Grace Modiselle, who is my angel on earth and spiritual warrior, because she’s been an incredible single parent who’s managed to strive despite the odds, raising three young women. She’s my pillar of strength and source of wisdom. And Oprah Winfrey because I am in awe of her work ethic and what she has managed to accomplish. She inspires me to build on my own legacy and persevere knowing that God always lets your purpose shine regardless of what you’ve been through.
Toya Delazy, music artist
My girlfriend, she is everything to me right now. She juggles a million things from helping me with my work to running her own company. She makes my life beautiful. She’s tenacious, believes in herself and makes me very happy.
