How to get Kate Hudson’s plum eye

If like us you just love Kate Hudson’s effortless approach to beauty, then you’re going to want to try out this look. We adore the subtle take on a plum eye that she’s rocking in this month’s cover shoot! Lancôme’s very own makeup artist Andrew James gives us a step-by-step guide to getting her look:

Step 1

First prep your face with a hydrating serum like

. Warm the product between your fingertips and sweep it onto your face in upward strokes, then follow with moisturiser and eye cream – this will help skin to look ‘dewy’. Now it’s time for foundation. Opt for a light formula like

and blend it with a foundation brush until it disappears onto the skin.

Step 2

Dust a nude shadow like

all over the eyelids as a base shadow. Next, line both your top and bottom lashline with a deep purple like

in 04 Prune. Keep very close to the lash line, starting with a thicker line at the outer corners and ending in a very thin line towards the inner corner of the eye. To achieve a soft, smoky look, like Kate’s, simply smudge the liner with a small firm eyeshadow brush to get the desired effect. Lastly, sweep on a lash-lengthening mascara for seriously dramatic lashes.

Step 3

Define your brows with Lancôme’s Le Crayon Sourcils by using fine feathery strokes to fill them in. Then, use the opposite end of the pencil to brush brows into place and soften the pencil strokes.

Step 4

And don’t forget to add some extra glow! Apply Lancôme Belle de Teint under cheekbones, the sides of the nose, along the hairline and beneath the jawline.

Step 5

To complete the look, go for a deep pink lipstick like

. For staying power, blot and reapply your lippy.
