DOs and DON’Ts of cosmetic surgery

Thinking of having some work done? Dr Zak Schabort, founder of the nationwide Cosmetic and Dental Emporium, President of The South African Soft Surgery Institute, and doctor to both Hollywood and local stars, tells us what to consider before we do.

DO get your teeth in order

Your teeth are the foundations of your beauty. If you’re considering cosmetic enhancements, start with your teeth first.

DON’T add too much volume

…Especially the lips! It can look really fake, which is not the aim of any cosmetic enhancement.

DO live healthily

Beauty starts with a healthy lifestyle – eat well, exercise, sleep enough. And brush your teeth!

DON’T take your health for granted

Aim to do daily fitness activities and eat a healthy, balanced diet.

DO find your unique beauty

Your natural beauty and potential can’t be found in a picture torn from a magazine or seen on a cinema screen. No matter what you’re having done, you want to achieve your own unique look.

DON’T ignore instructions

Always heed your doctor or practitioners’ instructions and advice.

DO see an expert

See me! [Laughs.]

DON’T give in to the negativity

Surrounding yourself with negative people and thoughts will lead you to become negative too. Before you know it, you’ll have a downturned mouth and that frown will transform into an ugly furrow.
