Spiritual baths are dominating our TikTok feed and they could be the perfect antidote to the stressful day you've just had.
A souped up version of the bubble bath, spiritual baths are an art form. Replete with petals, candles, various elixirs and some seriously aesthetically pleasing decor, they're designed to be blissfully drawn out, contemplative, great for your mental health and truly indulgent.
Humans have had a spiritual connection to water for centuries. From Ancient Greece to Ancient India, Egypt to Israel, to modern-day baptisms, humans have used baths as a way to heal their spirits by cleansing their souls and clearing their minds - and it seems millions of modern bathers have taken inspiration with the hashtag ‘spiritualbaths’ receiving over 29.9 million views on TikTok and @deesymone.com receiving over one million views after she revealed her favourite recipe for creating a spiritual bath.
The idea of a spiritual bath is to submerge your body whilst meditating on an intention. The best part of spiritual bathing is that you can truly make it your own, from the ingredients you fill your bath with and the music you opt for, to the candle scents and specific intention you choose to focus on.
Want in? Of course you do. Here, the spa experts at Spaseekers have shared their top tips for creating your own spiritual bath at home.
Set the scene
Set the scene with some peaceful music (Spotify has a great meditation playlist if you're stuck for inspo). Light some candles, which are the perfect way to set the spiritual ambience in your bathroom. Want to take it up a notch? Try using a diffuser or incense, which have some fantastic aromatherapy benefits such as reducing anxiety, stress, depression and headaches.
Add some crystals
Crystals are thought to help transport energy around our body, absorbing negative energy, shifting blockages and transmitting positive energy. It's all about proximity, which is why celebs like Adele, Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry have all admitted to keeping crystals close by. By placing crystals around the tub, it harmonises the chakras and elevates your level of calm. If you're new to the world of crystal healing, plump for Amethyst, which offers an immune boost, helps with intuition, reduces negative energy influences and balances emotions.
Add some ingredients
The girlies on TikTok have been adding Florida Water, a spiritual water thought to enhance the art of rituals, to their baths - but the possibilities are endless. Dry skin? Add a few drops of tea tree oil. Sensitive skin? Epsom salt or himalayan salt can help to soften skin affected by psoriasis, ease sunburn or help with bruises or sprains. Oily skin? Lemons will help that. If you're feeling fancy, you can also whack in some rose petals, bay leaves, sage, mint and lavender, which all help reduce stress, relax stiff muscles and help with digestive problems.
Aaaaaand relax.
