Being comfortable in a relationship is a healthy place to be; being stuck in a relationship rut, not so much. If you feel your relationship has become all Netflix and no chill, it might be time to kickstart it back into motion. Here’s how.
Date night
Sure it’s a cliché, but it’s one for a reason: it’s important and it works. Even if you see your significant other most times a week, if you’re not scheduling dedicated quality time with each other, you’re both missing out. Make a promise to get off the couch at least once a week and do something fun together, and you’ll soon feel those old sparks starting to fly.
The write stuff
It might not be for everyone, but putting your feelings into words could help the two of you grow closer. And if you can’t remember the last time you complimented your partner or told them how much they mean to you, all the more reason to start. Whether you want to leave actual written notes or send a daily SMS, the more you tell your partner how much you value them, the stronger your bond will ultimately become.
Work up a sweat
Believe it or not, exercising together could help you and your partner grow closer at the same time. Not only will you both become fitter and stronger, you’ll motivate each other and improve your communication, too. Plus, who doesn’t love a good post-training endorphin rush? Time to lace up those takkies and hit the road with your new workout buddy!
Create a bucket list
Always wanted to go bungee jumping? Now’s your chance! Put the zing back in your relationship by creating a couple’s bucket list, and start experiencing life in a whole new way. Simply write down different activities that you’ve always wanted to do, getting your partner to do the same. Then put each one in a jar and select a different one each week. Not only will you finally get to go on that helicopter trip you’ve always wanted, you’ll start making memories with your partner at the same time – ones that you can cherish for years to come.
