Sex Study alert.
A group of men in white coats have sat down, racked their brain a little bit, and have come to the conclusion that sex makes your more intelligent and banishes stress.
So there we have it folks, sex is good for you. Yep, it makes you cleverer (yes, we know that's not a word, but we're not getting much action right now, so that explains that!).
Researchers in Maryland and South Korea have analysed mice and rats and have discovered that sex increases mental performance and forms neurons in the hippocampus (the part of your brain that is connected to your long-term memory skills). To explain this to those of you who aren't getting some - sex improves your brain power and creates new brain cells.
The team at Konkuk University in Seoul wrote, "Sexual interaction could be helpful for buffering adult hippocampal neurogenesis and recognition memory function against the suppressive actions of chronic stress."
But what about porn stars, hey? Are they the ones that you want on your pub quiz team? Maybe not - research showed that fake sex such as porn via a computer may have the opposite effect. No word as yet, whether mice porn was used in the study, but we would like to banish any thoughts of that, thanks.
The Atlantic (the site that compiled the findings) noted even short viewing of pornographic images indeed interferes with people's "working memory" or the ability to mentally juggle and pay attention to multiple items.
