The wait was finally over at the grand launch celebration of South Africa’s first-ever Radisson Collection Hotel on Tuesday, 28 January 2025. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Cape Town’s iconic waterfront, the evening unfolded in a stunning blend of elegance, artistry, and luxury, marking the dawn of a new era for the Radisson Collection brand.
Hosted by the ever-charismatic Leigh-Anne Williams, the event set the tone for a night that promised - and delivered - exceptional moments. Guests were welcomed into a space that had undergone a remarkable transformation, as the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront Cape Town was reimagined into the unparalleled Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town. The meticulous refurbishment now captures the very essence of Cape Town, blending the city's vibrant charm with world-class luxury and design.
The evening kicked off with heartfelt speeches from Clinton Thom, General Manager of Radisson Collection Hotel, Waterfront Cape Town, and Sandra Kneubuhler, Managing Director for Africa at Radisson Hotel Group. Their words reflected the immense pride of having elevated this beloved landmark into a true destination, offering guests the chance to immerse themselves in the artistry and elegance of an extraordinary space.
“As we stand at the threshold of this exciting new chapter, it would be remiss of me not to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey that has brought us here. The past year has been transformative, with immense refurbishments across the hotel, including 70% of our Collection rooms and Junior Suites, the public area carpets, The West Atrium – now known as The Waveside Café – and our Reception Area. This year, we’re excited to embark on Phase 2, which will see the completion of our Collection rooms, Junior Suites, as well as the renovation of our restaurant and terrace,” said Clinton Thom.

The setting was nothing short of magical; luxurious white tones set the scene, while the sounds of live music from talented performers Kirya Kuti, Sterling EQ, and DJ Liam Pitcher filled the air. The energy was palpable, with every corner of the venue alive with excitement and good vibes.
The Art Gallery, a highlight of the evening, showcased breathtaking works by emerging artists Jaret Loggenberg and Fadiel Hermans. One of the pieces even found a new home that night, as a lucky guest purchased a work that had captured their heart. The gallery was a true testament to the artistic spirit of the event, adding another layer of sophistication and cultural depth to the evening.
The culinary experience was nothing short of phenomenal. Guests were treated to a delectable array of dishes, including sushi for every palate, braised beef short rib, glazed lamb “lollipops,” and mossbolletjie sliders. For those with a penchant for vegetarian pleasures, the poppy seed Wellington and pommes macaire were simply irresistible. Desserts, including the indulgent opera cake petit four and coconut apricot Hertzoggie, offered a sweet finale to an unforgettable experience. The Radisson team was exceptional, their friendly demeanor and helpful service enhancing the overall experience and ensuring guests felt truly special. The Radisson reservations team graciously guided select guests on an exclusive tour of the hotel, providing an insider’s view of the stunning, meticulously designed spaces that define the property’s unique blend of luxury and elegance. Each stop revealed the thoughtful details and elevated style that make this hotel a standout destination.
