It’s Drake Day! The rapper has released his much anticipated Certified Lover Boy album and the internet is going crazy.
The 21-track album dropped at midnight and sports an impressive list of guest features. Yesterday, billboards went up around the world, announcing artists from different cities that are featured on the album.
New York locals were ecstatic to know that “the goat” Jay-Z is on the album, while Nigerian singer Tems is representing Africa on the song “Fountains”.
Other notable collabs include Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi and Travis Scott, while fans have been loving the songs Champagne Party, and Papi’s Home featuring a sample from Nicki Minaj.
In other hot music news, Lil Nas was once again stirring up controversy as he announced his upcoming album Montero last night on Instagram.
The rapper posted pictures of himself as he appears to have a pregnant belly, revealing he is “pregnant” with his album which is due to release 17 September.
Once again the Twittersphere was ecstatic as the album is rumoured to feature Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Kid Cudi, and more.
In local news, rapper Big Zulu has come out with a new body of work after announcing just over a week ago that he has an upcoming album.
The album, titled Ichwane Lenyoka, consists of 20 tracks and features artists such as Riky Rick, Cofi, and Samthing Soweto.
Then, the queen of Limpopo dance music, Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, known as Makhadzi, has dropped her long-awaited studio album, African Queen.
The 19-track album features some of South Africa’s biggest names in amapiano and dance music, such as Cassper Nyovest, DJ Dance Okashi, and Kabza De Small.
“Seeing my new album trending at number one this morning makes me so happy and for the fact that people are loving it, it just warms my heart,” she said to Sowetan Live.
The album was released today, 3 September, and is available for streaming across all music platforms.
