In a collaboration that feels both unexpected and destined, Solo Ntsizwa KaMthimkhulu and Buhlebendalo Mda are joining forces for a powerful new project titled INQAWE, a spiritual and sonic offering set to release on October 29, 2025.
The pair recently teased fans with their first single, “Kakhulu,” accompanied by a beautifully shot visualizer that hints at the album’s introspective and transcendental tone. INQAWE, meaning a traditional smoking pipe in isiXhosa, it carries deep significance and heritage symbolism with a spiritual connection.
As an album, we predict both artist will explore purpose, spirituality, and the grounding power of self-awareness. The body of work will merges Solo’s lyrical precision with Buhle’s emotive vocal storytelling, creating a sonic experience that is both meditative and profoundly human.
Solo Ntsizwa KaMthimkhulu, known for his conceptual approach to rap, has spent over a decade building a legacy rooted in lyricism and authenticity. From Dreams.B.Plenty to C.Plenty.Dreams, Solo has become synonymous with thought-provoking rap that challenges convention and celebrates Black consciousness. His delivery, deliberate, poetic, and spiritual, positions him among South Africa’s most introspective hip-hop voices.
Buhle Mda, who started out with multi-award-winning a cappella group The Soil. She went solo in 2020 and currently has two albums under her belt (Chosi and Hele ) released 3 years apart. Mda will bring her signature warmth and ancestral resonance to the project. Her voice, instantly recognisable and soul-deep, has long been a vessel for storytelling that connects tradition with modernity. Through INQAWE, she steps into a new creative chapter, blending seamlessly with Solo’s grounded verses to craft something fresh and timeless.
The duo will celebrate the album’s release with a special launch tour across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, inviting audiences to experience the music in an intimate, spiritually charged setting.
More than just a collaboration, INQAWE is a dialogue between two artists who use music as a form of prayer, a sanctuary for reflection, healing, and truth.
