Glamour South Africa caught up with the dynamic DJ duo, TxC, to chat about music, fashion, and their upcoming trip to Doha to perform on the BUDX stage at the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke are making global waves and say they are ready to set the oil-rich country on fire during the tournament.
TxC is signed to the international cast of Budweiser, who are the official partners of the much-anticipated football spectacle. The Amapiano pair join the Budweiser SA family with their first collaboration being part of a Global Cast of 250 Creators & Innovators at the BudX Doha, shining a spotlight on Amapiano at the FIFA World Cup. The duo is set to perform in the gulf country on November 30 to December 3.
Originally from Gqeberha in Port Elizabeth, the duo are best friends. Their collective vision is to build their music catalog and expand their brands to wider audiences while simultaneously expanding and venturing into other entertainment fields like fashion and businesses-related to the brand we have established. Taking inspiration from other renowned African artists like Burna Boy, Davido, and Wiz Kid.
The pair say music has always been a big part of their lives, from knowing every latest song on the block to being at every music festival possible. "We already knew that, somehow, getting into music would be the end goal," says Clarise.
After planning and strategizing together, they joined a DJ school, graduated, and were soon comfortable enough to post their content as DJs online. Their online content allowed them to get booked for their first gig on October 28, 2019, and they have been fully booked and busy ever since.
"After the pandemic hit the world so hard and restricted so many events, it has been an amazing experience for us to be traveling the world now," says Tarryn.
The biggest bonus for the girls is being global ambassadors for the Amapiano sound and promoting their music on the biggest global stage, The FIFA World Cup.
Tarryn and Clairise's love for fashion is just as real as their passion for music. We love Durban Gogo, she is one of the artists we look up to when it comes to combining music and fashion. She keeps it relatable and makes it easy to understand while also being able to be authentic and glamorous. Fashion has always been a part of TxC's journey; their outfits are designed by Tarryn and always curated to reflect their feelings on the day, which is mostly sassy, fierce, and elegant with a little bit of streetwear. "I curate my performance outfits according to my location and staging," says Tarryn. As for style icons, Tarryn and Clairise look up to the likes of Alessandro Michele – Creative Director for Gucci, Rihanna, and Japanese street fashion culture.
Their upcoming single is titled Polo Club and features the exciting female vocalist and entertainer Khanyisa.
The single is about waking up and working hard to secure the bag. During the making of the song, the chemistry among the girls was electric and it was only fitting they speak on something they all believe in which is working hard to live the life of your dreams. As we all need reassurance the song is made to motivate and inspire the listener to get up in the morning and chase their goals.
After the Fifa World Cup and the new single release, TxC's goal in the coming year is to release a lot of new content and perhaps an album but advise we stay tuned to their social media to keep up with the Dynamic DJ duo.
