Minenhle Dlamini, 23 – with her megawatt smile, bedazzled gowns and effervescent charm – is no stranger to the limelight. “I’ve always loved being the centre of attention,” giggles the Durban-born TV presenter and actress. “When I was a little girl, my parents signed me up for sport, drama and ballet lessons just to keep me busy.”

1 “Get as much training as you possibly can, especially if you want to be an actress. If you have the opportunity, finish school, go to university or enrol in specialised training courses. SA has so many great institutions for acting – whether part-time or full-time – and these not only prepare you for a tough industry, they look great on your CV.”
2 “Then audition, audition, audition! All it takes is one person to see you and love you to ignite your career. Be persistent – you never know when, where or how your big break could come.”
3“ No audition is too small or unimportant. Be realistic – lots of actresses start in small roles, as extras or on small stages, but that’s a starting point! Plus, the more auditions you go to, the more experience you’ll get and the better you’ll do in your next audition.”
