And just last weekend, Ghanaian fashion label Christie Brown, brought this iconic moment together by showcasing their first ever SS20 virtual show on instagram.
The brand had planned a collection themed "Back to the Future" which was meant to have a sci-fi/ Jetsons (80's futuristic cartoon) feel. Little did they know that the fate of our future was going to be altered much sooner. Over the past few years, we have sought to introduce a different part of the CB woman. From her "other side" which spoke about her femininity to the "F-menist" in her; to the "King" she is as Aisha Ayensu Obuobi mentioned.
SO! Here we are, riddled with an eerie uncertainty of what the future holds. One thing we do know is the resilience that resides at the very core of the African woman. It stems from the plurality of layers that make this woman. It is the secret sauce that makes her navigate life with a dexterity that cannot possibly be learned. Come what may, SHE STILL STANDS. This collection is a combination of wispy fabrics, structured shoulders and medley of wax prints and batiks carefully finished with our hand embroidery techniques.
There is still joy in dressing up even in this pandemic, See the collection below as shot by Duque Photos :
