Fashion meets empowerment in an exciting second collaboration between Pamela Mtanga, Wonderbra, and Mr Price. The charismatic MC and Media personality is the perfect fit for the Wonderbra collection that is all about celebrating diverse body types, boosting self-esteem, and blending classic 90s glam with a modern twist.

Pamela Mtanga’s name is synonymous with confidence, with an infectious energy that fills every room she enters. Following up on the success of her first collaboration with Mr Price early this year - Pamela is not just staying abreast of trends—she’s setting them. Known for her bold, unapologetic style and empowering presence, she brings her unique flair to this iconic collection, blending timeless elegance with a fresh, modern twist.

With her dynamic personality and passion for self-expression, she invites women everywhere to embrace their bodies and step into their elegant power, unapologetically. Here, she shares her thoughts on the groundbreaking campaign, approach to style and leading with confidence.

Glamour: Pamela, you're the face of this exciting new Wonderbra collection. What drew you to this collaboration with Mr Price and Wonderbra?

Pamela: Apart from being drawn to the obvious in the initial campaign; Wonderbra being an iconic brand and Mr Price being one of the first brands to fuel my love for fashion through their “something new every day” slogan, the second edition of the campaign is different. The magnitude of the campaign is daunting but what’s more daunting is to have a 12 meter billboard in your underwear in the middle of the biggest mall in Africa!

But it was in that moment that I realized I for one mostly wore baggy clothing because I was not comfortable in my body so this campaign was a challenge so to speak and when I looked at myself I realized how confident I looked and how that could be someone else’s source of confidence even in their imperfection. From the first time I was introduced to this collaboration, I was asked what I thought about the product and I said “I can only tell you once I’ve worn it”, because underwear is about the feeling.

Glamour: The collection features extended sizing from 32A to 44E. How important is it for you to see brands embracing inclusivity in their sizing, and how does it make you feel to represent that?

Pamela: If there’s one insight that surprised me from the first edition of the Collaboration is that South Africans are gifted when it comes to the breast area! No matter how slim or more fuller-figured they are, the breast area can be fuller. That insight was quite interesting to me. But from the day the collection launched, the plan was to ensure inclusive sizes within a matter of time and of course depending on the success of the collection. And true to that, the second edition expanded in sizing options and I couldn't be prouder of the team for creating products that everyone can see themselves in because representation matters.

Glamour: The new bras and panties in this collection are designed to lift, sculpt, and enhance. Can you share how this collection makes you feel in terms of confidence and comfort?

Pamela: Confident and comfortable are definitely the best descriptions for a feeling underwear gives you! Coupled with affordable and stylish, you have a winning formula! My theme for this year has been about feeling feminine. Everything that carries the essence of a woman; from the way I dress to how I carry myself, I want to feel feminine and what better way to feel feminine than with underwear!

Glamour: Wonderbra is known for its iconic quality, and now it’s being offered at Mr Price’s incredible value. How do you think this combination of quality and affordability changes the way customers experience the brand?

Pamela: The way the economy is set up right now, it makes it harder to afford anything synonymous with quality at a rate that will not break the bank from food, to basic necessities. You end up having to compromise on the things you really love or the things you know people cannot see, and underwear may sometimes fall victim to that and let me tell you, that’s where this collection comes in! It’s affordable, it’s quality, and it looks great so you have no excuse for not grabbing a pair. More than anything, you’re buying a feeling and one that only comes with wearing a piece from Wonderbra!

Glamour: The campaign is all about blending 90s glam with a modern 2024 vibe. What does this blend of nostalgia and modernity mean to you, and how do you think it resonates with today’s audience?

Pamela: I think my personal style is rooted in nostalgia and modernity. I always ask myself, How can I style something today and make it look timeless as yesterday and remember it tomorrow? That’s the approach I believe we should take when making any form of underwear especially with a brand like Wonderbra that has been in existence for decades. Basically, not changing the formula of what works but just keeping up with the times and adjusting it to appeal to the new generation.

Glamour: You’re known for your charisma, confidence, and fun energy, which are qualities that align perfectly with both Mr Price and Wonderbra. How do you embody these values in your own life, and how does that connect with this campaign?

Pamela: I’m one of the most optimistic people you’ll meet, because I truly believe that I’m destined for greatness. I may wallow for a second when I’m sad, but that does not change the trajectory of my life. So by creating content I hope to be a beam of hope, light and happiness to the next person. What I appreciate about this campaign is the room to be myself because it’s only through that, I can continue pouring into other people. I hope someone else also realizes that through being themselves, a lot of doors can open.

Glamour: What’s the most exciting part for you about being a part of this campaign and representing Wonderbra’s iconic 90s glam with a fresh, modern twist?

Pamela: Reintroducing Wonderbra to my peers who saw their mothers and grandmothers wearing Wonderbra. It’s also the realization that we as the nineties kids are older and we should be embracing that!

Glamour: As a woman who exudes confidence, how important do you think it is for women to have lingerie that makes them feel empowered, and how does this new Wonderbra collection contribute to that feeling?

Pamela: It starts with embracing being yourself and knowing that your ultimate superpower is being yourself because everyone else is taken! Only then will you start employing the 3 main ingredients into your recipe: 1. embracing your imperfections, 2. working towards being a better version of yourself and 3. giving yourself grace for the things you cannot change about yourself. So when you step into this collection, the first thing you should look for is the feeling, a feeling that only comes with employing the 3 ingredients to this recipe. You may need some time to cultivate the feeling and make it last, but it is totally worth it!

Glamour: Can you share any personal thoughts on the feedback or reactions you’ve received so far from fans or customers about your role in this campaign?

Pamela: I recently got asked when the collection will be back! I couldn’t believe that I had to hold back on the surprise that it’s coming back with a wider size range! It felt like such a proud moment to hear that the girls want it back!

Glamour: What message do you hope people take away from this campaign, especially those who may be discovering Wonderbra for the first time through this collaboration with Mr Price?

Pamela: As cliche as it may sound, but nothing beats being in constant pursuit of a better version of you.

Glamour: As someone who is both charismatic and confident, how do you think the Wonderbra collection can help women feel more empowered in their daily lives?

Pamela: Whether you’re in sweatpants or in a glam dress, you have to feel confident, and that starts with you pursuing a better version of you!

Glamour: With the collection blending both classic Wonderbra quality and a modern twist, what do you think sets this collection apart from other lingerie lines available today?

Pamela: From an iconic underwear brand to a brand that is abreast with all the trendy fashion each season offers, it’s the perfect collaboration! And with me as the face, it couldn’t get better! I think placing emphasis on how this is the second edition of the collaboration is important because it speaks volumes as to how this collaboration has a winning formula and everything the consumers look for in underwear especially in this day and age where there’s a plethora of options available!

Glamour: What was your favorite moment during the campaign shoot, and how did the vibe of the collection come to life on set?

Pamela: Definitely shooting with 2 ladies who have different body types and skin colours. It’s important that the ladies who see this campaign feel represented and I felt that as we were shooting.

Glamour: In your opinion, what role does lingerie play in a woman’s overall sense of confidence, and how does this collection tap into that feeling?

Pamela: There’s a running joke about how you should always wear matching and beautiful underwear because you never know when you might run into an accident and they’d have to see you in the worst possible underwear. It’s the most exaggerated scenario of course but it’s actually a fear most ladies have! So the confidence you have when you’re wearing matching underwear is unmatched! Especially when it’s comfortable, beautiful and accentuates all the right places!
