The highly anticipated Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards 2026 remains one of the most talked-about film and television awards nights in Africa, globally recognised not only for celebrating cinematic excellence but also for its unforgettable fashion spectacle. Held at Eko Hotel & Suites under this year’s theme, “Honouring Craft, Celebrating Culture,” the 2026 ceremony once again transformed Lagos into the home of African entertainment, style and storytelling.
At the centre of this year’s fashion spectacle was South Africa’s own Nomzamo Mbatha. Serving as co-host for the glamorous evening, Mbatha honoured the spirit of the night through fashion, stepping out in five striking gowns by five celebrated Nigerian designers.
Throughout the evening, Mbatha delivered a carefully curated style journey, wearing designs by House of Marvee, Emagine By Bukola, Tubo, House of Dova and VeeKee James. Each look celebrated craftsmanship, structure and African luxury fashion while paying tribute to the host country’s thriving design industry.
From dramatic silhouettes to intricate embellishments and sculptural couture moments, every outfit reflected a different mood while maintaining Mbatha’s signature elegance and commanding presence.
The actress and philanthropist seamlessly blended glamour with cultural appreciation, using fashion as a powerful nod to African creativity and collaboration.
Social media quickly lit up with praise for Mbatha’s wardrobe choices, with many applauding her intentional decision to exclusively wear Nigerian designers on one of the continent’s biggest entertainment stages.
Hosting alongside Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma, The pair was praised for bringing fresh energy, humour and continental star power to the stage.
Beyond the red carpet glamour, the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards 2026 celebrated the best in African film and television while spotlighting the continent’s evolving cultural impact.
