On International Women’s Day Glade gathered amazing women through the “ Africa Bloom - In My Era” campaign at Ground The Venue in Muldersdrift. The purpose of the campaign is to celebrate women no matter what era they are in. Whether you’re in your baddie era, your soft girl era, your boss lady era or your happy girl era, Glade celebrates you, the women of Africa.
Kickstarting the event was MC for the day, seasoned broadcaster, Hulisani Ravele. This marked her first public speaking engagement since her sabbatical, and it was only fitting that she would be partnering with Glade to uplift women. She was heard saying, “It’s been exciting, it’s been so purposeful and that she’s in her blooming era. The event spoke to her because she could resonate with the campaign in women owning whatever era they may be in. To step into their fullness and walk in it, whatever it may be”.
Marketing Director for SC Johnson, Africa Cluster, Lesego Segopolo welcomed all the guests to the event and reiterated the commitment that Glade is making to continue empowering and uplifting women so they light up paths that will Make Africa Bloom.
In continuation of using empowerment as a pillar for change in their purpose led marketing, Glade had female entrepreneurs who owned product based businesses to showcase during the Glade Entrepreneur Spotlight, where they were given an opportunity to tell their stories, what they do and what their businesses offered to the attendees.
It didn’t stop there, Glade also had the Strategic Women Empowerment Panel which featured Zulaikha Patel, Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni and Rashmi Vadivelu (Marketing Manager - Home Care at SC Johnson) to discuss women empowerment in the African context.
Zulaikha spoke on the difference between gender equality and women empowerment, Liesl spoke on the importance of using your softness to empower yourself and male counterparts being advocates for women empowerment and Rashmi reiterated the importance of institutional change in corporate South Africa.
In 2023, Glade embarked on a journey through its launchpad programme to train and support female entrepreneurs by giving them the necessary tools and skills to help elevate their businesses. In 2024 they are taking this a step further by partnering with Concord for Young Women in business, an NGO that trains female entrepreneurs in rural communities.
Through their Limited Edition packs, every sale made will see a portion donated to the organization to continue training and ultimately empowering women in our effort to help Make Africa Bloom.
