Who is Darkie Fiction?

We are a South African music duo from the Eastern Cape, living in Johannesburg. Our music fuses English and isiXhosa while drawing inspiration from multiple genres from both the past and present day.

Take us through your musical journey as a duo and individually

We met as independent solo musicians both hustling and trying to forge our own path. After a year of knowing each other we realised that our ideas and visions for music were very similar so we decided to join forces and become Darkie Fiction.

What has been your career highlight?

Our most recent career highlight is having our hit single “Bhoza” that we released 6 years ago, be used for a KFC commercial this year. That is something that we have dreamed and prayed about since writing the song.

Recently you shared your journey in finding your dream home, and had many people admiring your resilience and patience, take us through the process?

We’ve always wanted to be homeowners but didn’t always think it would be possible for people like us (fulltime creatives). God spoke to us and told us it was possible and to start looking and we found our dream house. It wasn’t easy at all but God has been so good and faithful.
