A new documentary from Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald tells the story of the superstar Whitney Houston, who passed away in 2012.
The film will tell the story of her life and career, using unreleased recordings, never-before-seen footage and live performances recorded by Houston throughout her life, as well as original studio recordings and acapellas of some her greatest hits. Thanks to the Houston estate archives, the documentary also includes home movie footage that has never been publicly-released, offering a rare insight into the singer’s personal life.
In the minute-long trailer, released today, we see the glitz and glam of Houston’s fame contrasted with a vulnerable woman who is struggling to cope, to an acoustic, haunting version of I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
“People think it’s so damn easy,” we hear Houston saying. “But it’s not.”
undefinedHouston, who is one of the most-celebrated musical talents of all time, died on 11 February 2012 after she was found unresponsive in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, California. The singer and her ex-husband, Bobby Brown, had a history of substance abuse. She was 48-years-old.
