Instagram Sensation Elsa Majimbo
Two weeks ago her video about not missing anyone during the COVID-19 lockdown started to trend, and in no time 18-year-old, Elsa Majimbo became an internet sensation. In less than a month, she got the attention of the whole of Africa, including some love from current Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi, rapper Cassper Nyovest, famed broadcaster Claire Mawisa, just to name a few.
"I was told by my friends a week or so ago that my video was trending in South Africa and people were loving it. I was stoked," Elsa told GLAMOUR Online Editor Molife Kumona during their LIVE chat this week.
Thousands of people tuned in for the chat including Miss Universe herself. "Miss Universe is here watching a LIVE about me. I need a moment," Elsa said as she caught her breath.
"We resonate with her cause she's authentic! We relate Akuna other reason. She is us," Zozi commented as she watched the interview.
In the interview, Elsa opened up on how she never expected to get this much love from all over the continent and she is extremely humbled by it all.
Elsa also opened up about why she started making videos in the first place. "I didn't have a lot of friends at school because some people would make fun of me. That's when I decided, if I make fun of me when anyone else makes fun of me it won't get to me and that's how I started."
Elsa who lives with her family in Nairobi, Kenya also spoke about her parents being her role models revealed the other bloggers and comedians she would like to collaborate with.
