South African artist Sakhile ’Killer Kau’ Hlatshwayo was one of the six people who lost their lives in a tragic accident on Monday night.
The families, music fraternity and fans have been trying to deal with the tragic news of the untimely deaths of Amapiano artists Sakhile ’Killer Kau’ Hlatshwayo, Mongezi “Mpura” Stuurman, Khanya Hadebe, Thando Tot and Thando TD. They were involved in a fatal accident on their way to perform at an event in the North West and the South African Police have since been investigating a case of culpable homicide.
Through the outpouring of tributes from family and friends, Killer Kau has been described as an all-around decent guy who never let his fame get to his head and who had a heart for people.
His girlfriend, Olwethu Mkhwanazi, recently uploaded a video tribute to the Tholukuthi Hey hitmaker on Instagram expressing the grief she feels after the loss of her partner. Olwethu’s post said:
“TO MY SAKHII. There’s literally no greater pain, my heart has been ripped out of my chest. It didn’t have to be this soon kodwa Sakhii. I literally don’t have the words right now but I love you my ACE! ♥️”
“Sakhile has always been an entertainer even before he became famous. He used to enter singing and dancing competitions. He was such a giving and loving person. I want him to be remembered as a bubbly and very respectful person that he was.
“He didn’t use his fame as a tool to look down on others. If anything, he empowered them. He loved people and continued to treat them with respect even when he became famous. He was also a hard worker and never the type to give up. Whatever he was doing, he would give it 110%. He was always giving to his fans, the community,” Gugu said.
Killer Kau rose to fame in 2017 after the release of Tholukuthi Hey and recently dropped the official video for Amaneighbour ft Mr JazziQ. He was also up for the Best Amapiano Collaboration Award at the first annual South African Amapiano Awards set to take place in October.
