As Puerto Rico continues to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria, Rihanna has taken aim at President Donald Trump for his lack of support for Puerto Ricans.
The natural disaster has sent the U.S. territory into chaos. Puerto Rico reportedly only has about 5% of its electrical grid operational, cell service is out across most of the island, only 11 of Puerto Rico’s 69 hospitals have power and less than half of its 3.4 million people have access to drinking water. Trump has faced widespread criticism for how he has handled the situation since the hurricane hit earlier in September.
And now, Rihanna has called out Trump for failing to address the crisis at hand. She tweeted out a photo of the New York Daily News cover which reads, “No food, no water, no power no medical care for the dying … Puerto Rico needs more help, Mr. President!” The performer tweeted the photo out with, “Dear @realDonaldTrump I know you’ve probably already seen this, but I just wanted to make sure! Don’t let your people die like this.”

Many fans applauded Rihanna’s call out. One person wrote, “Rih really woke and knows how to use her voice for the better.” Another replied, “I think It would be better for the country if you run it. That guy is even a worse president than ours. And that’s a lot.”

Rihanna has a personal connection to the situation. She’s from Barbados which was safe from Hurricane Irma, but much of the rest of the Caribbean was hit hard. She tweeted on September 8, “on my knees just praying for my Caribbean people this morning!! My heart goes out to you in a time like this!!! #HurricaneIrma.”
And this isn’t the first time Rihanna has tried to get Trump’s attention. She has tagged him in several tweets about Puerto Rico over the past couple of days.
