On May 13, Rocky shared a series of family photos and videos on Instagram to celebrate the 12-month milestone, including one rare PDA moment between mom and dad. Though the rapper confirmed his relationship with the Fenty mogul in May 2021—and the pair recently locked hands on the cover of British Vogue*—*the pair typically keeps their public displays of affection verbal and sartorial.
However, in the first pic from the slideshow, Rihanna can be seen leaning over her son to give Rocky a sweet kiss on the cheek while the family of three enjoys time at the beach. “WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN 🤲,” Rocky captioned the photos and videos with a quote from Wu-Tang Clan's Russell Tyrone Jones, a.k.a. Ol' Dirty Bastard. He continued, "HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA❤️”
This post seems to confirm The Daily Mail's recent report that the pair's firstborn is named RZA Athelston Mayers, likely in honour of another Wu-Tang Clan rapper. Meanwhile, his middle name, Athelston, pays homage to A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Athelston Mayers.
Ultimately, A$AP Rocky and Rihanna waited an entire year to share their son's name with the world. “Rihanna and ASAP have only shared the baby’s name with close family members,” an insider told Us Weekly in May 2022. “They are keeping it a secret until they’re ready to share it with the world.”
