Now, American singer Lizzo has brought one of his fashion designs to life.
The Good As Hell hitmaker, posted a series of pictures and videos wearing a beaded blue Gert Johan Coetzee two-piece for promo for her new TV series, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.
In the series, Lizzo is on a search for a new group of Big Grrrl dancers to be part of her next tour. Thirty girls arrive, but only 10 will be allowed to audition.
Designing womenswear for over 20 years, Coetzee is well versed accentuating the female form, making him the ideal collaborator for Lizzo, who is an advocate for body positivity and inclusivity, and who just announced she will be launching a shapewear collection, Yitty, in April.
To create he outfit, Coetzee worked closely with stylist Jason Rembert.
“It was such an honour to work with such an iconic team. The beaded skirt and top took over two months to construct and was complemented by a dramatic tulle jacket in cobalt blue,” said Coetzee.
Lizzo paired the dress with a ruffled blue bolero jacket, platinum blond hair and soft pink eye makeup.
