“Stormi Webster” has become as much a part of the Kardashian-Jenner lexicon as Kylie, Kendall, Kris, Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney. As it turns out, though, Kylie Jenner’s daughter was almost named something different.
After Stormi’s birth was announced on February 4, Jenner waited a few days — until February 6 — to reveal her name to the world. While at the time, fans assumed she was likely keeping the information to herself, it was actually because Stormi didn’t have a name yet.
In a new Halloween makeup tutorial video with vlogger James Charles, Jenner reveals how her daughter’s name came to be. “I was just looking at nature names, like weather- and earth-inspired,” she said. “Storm was on there — just Storm. And then I was like, I kinda want ‘-ie’ like me, so then I did Stormie with ‘-ie’.”
She continued, “It was always Stormie with an ‘-ie’. I bought custom things for her that said her name, ‘-ie’. I bought her the blocks, ‘-ie.’ I didn’t fully choose her name, I wanted to have a week of just me and her to see if I wanted to change it. I had one other name in mind, but Stormi always felt like her name from when she was in the womb. It’s almost like she chose her name.”
undefinedBut when someone called her to confirm her daughter’s name for her birth certificate, she made the last minute decision to drop the ‘e,’ rendering all of those personalized onesies obsolete. “When they called me from the birth certificate office, and I was finalizing the name, they were like ‘how do you wanna spell it?’” Jenner shared. “And I was like, ‘S-T-O-R-M-I,’ and they were like, ‘You sure?’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, just an I.’ Literally right then and there I just changed it to an ‘i.’ Then I hung up the phone and I was like, ‘damn, guess that’s her name.’”
While Stormie (with an “e”) came in at a very close second, it wasn’t the only alternate name that Jenner considered. In the video, she also revealed that “Willow” made the final cut, but she thought it might be too confusing given her friendship with Willow Smith.
