Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may have to reschedule their Parisian wedding next month after discovering the French law requires a 40-day residency before they can get married in the country.
The couple are set to tie the knot in Paris on May 24 in a lavish ceremony (get all of the details, including what the guests can expect in their gift bags, here).
The French Embassy in Washington D.C told RadarOnline: “All marriages must be performed by a French civil authority before any religious ceremony takes place.
“The mayor can authorise the deputy mayor or a city councillor to perform the ceremony in the town in which one of the parties to be married has resided for at least 40 days preceding the marriage.
“These requirements cannot be waived.”
The 36-year-old rapper reportedly has an apartment in the French capital but he doesn’t live there full-time as he currently resides in California with Kim, 33.
Meanwhile, the couple – who have 10-month-old daughter North together – were keen for their wedding day to be an experience their 200 guests will never forget, so they have hired out the Trianon Palace Hotel for them to stay in, amid rumours that Kanye has been calling in favours to get Kim invited to parties.
