Khloé Kardashian shared a scary but helpful health update on Tuesday 11 October. After appearing in public wearing a bandage on her cheek recently, the Good American founder decided it was time to reveal the procedure she'd had: the removal of a tumour. Thankfully, her prognosis is good, and she isn't letting any bandage slow her style down.
Kardashian shared the news on Instagram Stories, posting pictures of a round bump on her cheek that she assumed was a pimple or minor irritation, but which she had biopsied after it didn't go away. Without mentioning what kind of tumour the tests found, Kardashian shared that her doctors told her it was “incredibly rare” in someone her age (38) and that she needed to have it removed immediately.
The surgeon was able to get “everything" and now her ”margins appear clear," which is a term that means the area where the cancer was isn't showing any leftover cells. Kardashian then reminded her followers to “get checked” when they have a suspicious skin abnormality, and shared that as a teenager, she'd had a melanoma (a skin cancer) removed from her back, and that she consistently uses sunscreen.
Khloé Kardashian shared that even after her wound has healed, she will have a dent and a scar, but seemed to have a positive attitude about it, flaunting her “fabulous” face bandages. She ended her messages with a version of a quote attributed to numerous sources, but which probably evolved from the words of Scottish writer John Watson: “everyone you meet is fighting a battle [you] know nothing about.”
If you've noticed an unusual growth on your skin, don't wait around before getting it looked at by a professional. Much better to be told now that it was nothing than to be told later that you should have come in sooner. Keep healing, Khloé!
