Are we reaching the end of the Kate Middleton mystery? Sources close to Kensington Palace have indicated that the Princess of Wales is likely to resume public duties around April 17—and she may even take the opportunity to clear up some lingering questions about her absence. No promises, though.
According to a palace aide speaking to the Times of London, Kate and Prince William still plan to release a new photo of Prince Louis for his sixth birthday on April 23. But we don't know whether Kate herself will be behind the camera or they'll engage a professional. “They appreciate the public’s love and affection for their children and know there is a public appetite to see them ontheir birthdays,” the aide said.
As for when we'll see the missing princess herself, royal sources say the plan was always for Kate to return to the public eye at the end of the children's Easter holidays on April 17. Though we still don't know what Kate's first royal engagement will be, one royal source speculated that if she were to talk about her recovery, it would be then. “They are at their most open when out interacting with members of the public, and I can see a world in which the princess might discuss her recovery out on engagements,” the source claimed.
Another royal friend was more conservative with their predictions, telling the outlet, “They will want to be clear and more open, but they’ll do it when they feel ready. I would expect that to beher instinct and it will be her call. They’re not going to be rushed.”
Speculation about the princess's whereabouts has reached a fever pitch, with conspiracy theories running the gamut from Brazilian butt lift to imminent divorce. At this point, some people won't be satisfied until they see Kate Middleton on live video, holding the day's newspaper and assuring the world in her own words that she's fine.
But whether or not she wants to do that remains her prerogative.
