Including details about JLo's "dress from an old movie."
Jennifer Lopez – excuse me, Jennifer Affleck – is a married woman. And thankfully for me, a celebrity news editor, she's just shared all the details.
After her Las Vegas nuptials with her husband (!) Ben Affleck on Saturday, July 16, Lopez excitedly shared a sneak peek of the secret ceremony with readers of her On the JLo newsletter. Here's everything we know so far:
Viva Las Vegas!
J.Lo writes that the Vegas experience is “exactly what we wanted.” We're glad!
The 'Let's Get Loud' singer wrote: “Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world,” she said of the Vegas vibes. “Behind us, two men held hands and held each other. In front of us, a young couple who made the three-hour drive from Victorville on their daughter’s second birthday—all of us wanting the same thing— for the world to recognize us as partners and to declare our love to the world through the ancient and nearly universal symbol of marriage.”
Jennifer wore a “dress from an old movie.”
J.Lo (sorry, I'm not giving up “Lo” and I'm most certainly not writing “JAff”) notes that the low-key ceremony was witnessed by “a dress from an old movie” and Ben's tuxedo jacket, a little white number he had just laying around his closet (movie star things). Little detail is given about the rings, but no matter – I want more info on that dress!
J.Lo has starred in numerous movies in which she wears wedding dresses – including 2022's Marry Me, for starters. She also wears wedding dresses in Monster in Law (2005) and The Wedding Planner (2001), the latter of which is said to have inspired Meghan Markle's gown from her 2018 royal wedding to Prince Harry. But none of the three iconic wedding dresses appears to be J.Lo's pick.
In selfies taken with her new husband Ben, the multi-talented star wears what looks to be a stunning off-the-shoulder gown with long lace sleeves, styled with a billowing veil and a simple pendant necklace. Beautiful!
Oh, and there was a second dress.
Mixing it up, J.Lo also wore a textured white dress at some point during the busy day.
"I've had this dress for so many years, and I've been saving it and saving it and saving it, and now I'm wearing it on my wedding day,” she tells the camera in a behind-the-scenes video posted to her website, wearing the dress with a fitted bodice and flowing skirt. There looks like a dress on the racks behind her, so maybe this dress was just for travel?
Don't leave us in suspense, Jen!
Emme was there!
The Afflecks are now a party of seven. Including Affleck's three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner and Lopez's twins Emme and Max from her marriage to Marc Anthony, the couple has “a new wonderful family of five amazing children and a life that we have never had more reason to look forward to.”
JLo shared a photo of Emme in the backseat of a pink convertible (care of the Little White Wedding chapel), though it's unclear if the other four children attended the ceremony.
J.Lo is officially “Mrs. Affleck.”
The multi-hyphenate signed her newsletter “Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck,” which is led fans to wonder whether the “Lopez” is gone for good. Her Instagram bio still reads “Jennifer Lopez,” however, and her handle is still @jlo. So it looks like things will stay the same professionally—for now, at least.
