Britney Spears paid tribute to Whitney Houston at a special concert held in her honour last night.
The “Toxic” singer – who was there to present a clip during the event – revealed she landed a record contract thanks to her performance of Whitney’s song “I Have Nothing”, but said the show, entitled ‘We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston’, was a “solemn” occasion.
She tweeted: “Backstage at The Whitney Houston Tribute. Such a solemn occasion. Jason’s doing his best to put a smile on my face. (sic)”
Hours before she wrote about her excitement ahead of taking part in the show. She said: “Getting ready for the Whitney GRAMMY Salute right now – sounds like it’s going to be an incredible event! (sic)”
Stars including Celine Dion and Usher took part in the special concert, held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and Jennifer Hudson performed a medley of Whitney’s songs at the event, including “How Will I Know”, “I’m Every Woman” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.
