Awards season is back with a bang and Hollywood’s biggest night - the Academy Awards 2022 - is set to take place this Sunday 27 March.
Excitement is building as the one and only Beyonce has been announced as the headlining performer for the evening. Queen Bey will sing “Be Alive” from the Will Smith film King Richard, which tells the story of Venus and Serena Williams’ meteoric rise to world-champion tennis sensations, under the tutelage of their father Richard Williams.
According to reports, Beyonce will perform from tennis courts in Compton, California - an homage to where the Williams sisters would train as young girls - which will be broadcast to the Oscars at the Dolby Theatre via satellite.
“Be Alive” is one of five Best Original Song nominees. Billie Eillish is also set to perform on Sunday night. The Happier Than Ever hitmaker will perform No Time Die from the newly-released James Bond movie of the same name. Eilish co-wrote the song with her brother, Finneas, who will also be performing alongside her.
Reba McEntire and Sebastián Yatra will be performing two of the other nominated songs as well.
From musical performances to box-office nominees starring A-list actors, we can’t wait to tune in to the star-studded evening.
