Sana Mchunu is among South Africa’s most talented actresses with several years of acting. The 44-year-old actress comes from a poor family in Soweto and acting wasn’t part of her journey until much later in life.
Sana says she regrets most of the decisions she's made including not listening to her parents as a result, she ended up having her first child a teenage girl.
The popular actress is mostly known for her roles as Teddy’s mom, Zodwa on Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Gomora and as Nomarashiya during her time on SABC’s soapy Muvhango.
Dancer for Brenda Fassie
In her teen years, Sana used to dance for the late Brenda Fassie. Unfortunately, she had to stop after falling pregnant at the age of 14 years.
Failed marriage
The 44-year-old actress said she was married at a very young age but her marriage did not work out due to her abusive husband of 9 years.
GBV survivor
Sana says she was a survivor of domestic violence which lasted for a better part of her 9 years in marriage. She adds that she has since freed herself from her abusive partner.
She landed an acting role by luck
Sana did not intend on becoming an actress, she says she just wanted a job in order to feed her family. She said that she ended up becoming an actress by luck after she had accompanied a friend to an audition in which she was asked by one of the directors to audition and the rest is history.

The Queen, The River, Isabaya, Gomora, and SABCs Generations, Muvhango as well as eTV's popular telenovela Rhythm City.
